CanaMex e-accountants is a Canadian entity located in metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are affiliated with a 20 person CPA firm established in 2004.
In order to deal with the shortage of accountants in Canada, the firm hired three professional accountants from Mexico during 2018 and trained them to become proficient in accounting for Canadian companies. Two people work remotely from the firm’s Mexico office located in Merida, Yucatan.
Using the North American Free Trade Agreement (“NAFTA”) the third person was brought to the firm’s metro Vancouver office for training, where she now currently resides and works full time.
The firm tested and proved the assertion that “accounting is accounting” regardless of the country it is learned. In experiencing success with the training and employment of their current Mexican personnel, the Principals and their Mexican team developed an on-line Learning Management System that is used to train accounting graduates from Mexican universities in Canadian accounting.
The vision of CanaMex is to have Mexican accounting graduates complete our program as part of their University Practicum requirements. Upon successful completion we will help them obtain an accounting position with a Canadian CPA firm where they will work remotely from Merida, Mexico. There are no costs to the student to complete our program or to obtain future employment with a Canadian CPA firm.
Our goals are to help Canadian CPA firms with their hiring and training of future university graduates and help Mexican accounting graduates obtain the training and employment that will provide the foundation for their future professional careers.

In addition to fulfilling the requirements to complete your practicum, our Learning Management System (“LMS”) will provide you with the necessary training to obtain future employment with a Canadian accounting firm while living in Merida.
While completing our LMS you will work with Merida, Mexico and Vancouver, Canada accounting professionals who will guide you through the various modules and be available for assistance when required.
After completing your practicum with good results you will be employable for an entry level position within a Canadian accounting practice. In our opinion, you will be better trained than most students graduating from Canadian Universities because there is no such training program like ours available in Canada.
We will place you with a suitable Canadian accounting firm where you will work remotely from Merida with other students having similar positions. Depending on the Canadian firm this could involve travel to Canada for training that would be paid by the Canadian accounting firm, which we highly recommend.
While working remotely in Merida you will be supervised by our on-site personnel who will be available for assistance whenever you have a problem with the application software or a “how do I do this” question. You will also have remote contact using Zoom with our Vancouver personnel who can help you when required.
These positions offer significantly higher salaries than most entry level positions in Mexico while working less hours.

Once we reach a “critical mass” we will hold an annual retreat at a 5 Star resort in Cancun or Playa del Carmen (during the winter months for the benefit of the Canadian accounting firms) where members of the firms and their Merida team will learn best practices for working remotely, new ideas and strengthen relationships.
